Independent Contractors
Qualifications:
- 2 years verifiable experience
- Pass a pre-employment physical
- Pass a pre-employment drug test
- Stable work history
- Minimum 23 years of age
- Valid CDL
May NOT have:
- A DUI * DWI or Open container in the past 5 years
- A chargeable accident in the last 12 months
- More than 2 moving violations in the last 12 months
- More than 5 moving violations in the last 3 years
- Suspensions of any nature in the past 12 months
Pay Scale:
- 79% of total revenue with a 1 ½ week hold back
- Independent contractors receive 100% of additional pick-ups and stop-offs
- Independent contractors receive 100% of tarp charges
- Independent contractors receive 100% of fuel surcharge
- BTI has a guarantee line haul of $.82 per book mile
- Trailer rental available
Benefits:
DOT Inspection
$50.00 will be paid to an Independent Contractor who completes a no violation DOT inspection. A copy of the inspection report must be returned to the safety department.
Rider Policy
Passengers must be least 11 years of age and an immediate family member.
Tractor-Trailer Insurance
- Insurance is available through BTI at 3.5% of the insured value of the tractor-trailer
- Bobtail insurance costs $39.00/month

Automatic Deposit
Automatic deposit is available to the bank of your choice with all settlement paperwork being sent to your home.
Emergency Fund
An emergency fund has been established at the Affinity Credit Union to aid drivers faced with a family emergency. The fund is voluntary and is deducted at $2.00/week. THIS IS A NON-REFUNDABLE PROGRAM.
Driver Referral Bonus
A $1000.00 bonus is paid to a current BTI driver or Independent Contractor when a driver referral is qualified, finishes the orientation program and takes dispatch on his/her first load.
Orientation
A new Independent Contractor can expect to spend 3 days completing the orientation process and will receive $75.00 per day during orientation.
Independent Contractor Requirements:
- Copy of the title
- Copy of Federal Road Use Tax (2290)
- Proof of insurance
- Copy of bill of sale for the driver file
- Federal ID#
