Independent Contractor Qualifications:

• 2 years of verifiable truck driving experience
• Pass a pre-employment physical
• Pass a pre-employment drug test
• Stable work history
• Minimum 23 years of age
• Valid CDL license

May NOT have:

• A DUI * DWI or open container in the past 5 years
• A chargeable accident in the last 12 months
• More than 2 moving violations in the last 12 months
• More than 5 moving violations in the last 3 years
• Suspensions of any nature in the past 12 months

Independent Contractor Pay Scale:

• Truck drivers get some of the best pay in the trucking industry with  79% of total revenue and a 1 ½ week holdback
• Independent contractors receive 100% of additional pick-ups and stop-offs
• Independent contractors receive 100% of the fuel surcharge
• BTI has a guaranteed line haul trucking rate of $.82 per book mile

Independent Contractor Driving Job Benefits:

• DOT truck inspection of your commercial motor vehicle
• $50.00 will be paid to an Independent Contractor who completes a no-violation DOT inspection. The independent trucker must return a copy of the inspection report to the safety department
• Rider policy that allows passengers to ride along on trucking routes
• Passengers must be an immediate family member and at least 11 years of age
• Tractor-Trailer Insurance
• Insurance is available through BTI at 3.5% of the insured value of the tractor-trailer
• Low-cost bobtail insurance at $39.00/per month

Programs For Independent Contractors:

• Automatic Deposit: Automatic deposit is available to the bank of your choice with all settlement paperwork being sent to your home at no additional cost.
• Emergency Fund: An emergency fund has been established at the Affinity Credit Union to aid drivers faced with a family emergency. The fund is voluntary and is deducted at $2.00/week. THIS IS A NON-REFUNDABLE PROGRAM.
• Driver Referral Bonus: A $1000.00 bonus is paid to the current BTI truck driver when a driver referral is qualified, finishes the orientation program, and takes dispatch on his/her first load
• Paid Orientation: A new recruit can expect to spend 3 days completing the orientation process. The recruit will receive $75.00 per day during orientation.

Independent Contractor Requirements:

• Copy of the title
• Copy of Federal Road Use Tax (Form 2290)
• Proof of insurance
• Copy of bill of sale for the driver file
• Federal ID#

 Independent Contractors Must Have Their Own Equipment:

• Lumber Tarps (8 foot drop) – 1 set
• Steel Tarps – 1 set
• 4 ‘Straps (14)
• Winches (14)
• Chains and binders (10)
• Dunn age – 6 to 8 pieces of hardwood
• 2” straps (2)
• Coil racks (8)
• ALL EQUIPMENT MUST PASS A SIGN ON INSPECTION
